An exciting opportunity exists at Marshall Road State School for a permanent Head of Special Education Services to join the Executive Leadership Team.
The HOSES will lead and manage the Whole School Support Team including Teachers and Teacher Aides, as well as manage the support and stretch opportunities for all students in line with the school's vision and values around belonging and engagement.
The role will include responsibility for strategic work aligned to Marshall Road State School's AIP priorities, line management of Inclusion staffing and management of the school support timetable from Prep to Year six. Working within our Executive Leadership Team, you will improve the educational outcomes of students in the school by facilitating quality teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships.

About the School
Marshall Road State School - Special Education Program is situated in a rural atmosphere located south-east of the Brisbane CBD. It caters for the learning needs of just over 500 students from Prep to Year 6. Marshall Road State School has a proud sense of community with family associations that extend through generations.
About the Role
As the Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Build staff and community knowledge, understanding, application, associated attitudes, behaviours and practices of inclusive education and associated legislation and policy.
- Review model of service delivery (in collaboration with Executive Leadership Team) and resources for the provision of additional support and adjustments for targeted students.
- Provide pedagogical coaching and staff mentoring to build staff capacity around inclusive practices.
- Use data to inform curriculum decisions and plan reasonable adjustments, differentiation, focused and/or intensive teaching, including case management processes.
- Work with students, staff and parents to ensure that identified students are supported in all academic, sporting and social ventures.
- Work closely with the classroom teachers to aid in the development of work programs for a specific student or group of students, as well as aiding in the design and construction of individual materials and resources required for more inclusive practice across all settings.
- Lead Student Support Meetings and stakeholder meetings with external agencies and parents when required.
- Assist in building a positive team culture in the school with a focus on supporting all students to flourish.
