The Senior Adviser Aboriginal Engagement is responsible for supporting the delivery of projects and initiatives under the department's Aboriginal Workforce Strategy 2021 - 2026, and internal implementation of the department's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety Framework.
The Senior Adviser Aboriginal Engagement will provide strategic advice to deliver strategies to create a culturally safe employee experience, where individuals are valued for their cultural knowledge and lived experience.
The role involves developing effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including other government agencies, health services and key Aboriginal health organisation and a range of program and policy areas within the department.

About you:
We are looking for someone who can:
* Support the delivery of departmental objectives that positively impact outcomes to increase the Aboriginal workforce participation and improve Aboriginal cultural safety as outlined in the department's Aboriginal Workforce Strategy and the Aboriginal Cultural Safety Framework.
* Provide strategic advice and recommendations to build the capability of others and to create a culturally safe working environment for Aboriginal people.
* Maintain an understanding of issues impacting the department's clients and support critical projects that develop and review policies, professional standards and operating practices that enhance service delivery, budget effectiveness, efficiency and improved client outcomes.
* Forge strong connections across the department and with external stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach to achieve outcomes in the department's Aboriginal Workforce Strategy and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural safety Framework
* Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in alignment with the principles of self-determination and accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications/Specialist Expertise:
* A tertiary qualification in fields related to human resources or organisational development would be desirable.
* Cultural Knowledge and expertise including the ability to identify emerging issues, opportunities, trends and potential risks that impact upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with Aboriginal organisations and Aboriginal community.
* A strong understanding of the Victorian health system, and knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems is essential.
