We are looking for a Policy Officer to join us in making a difference by contributing to the development, delivery and evaluation of strategic policy to improve outcomes for children and families, through collaboration with staff across Queensland Health and intergovernmental partners.

A key focus of the role is the central coordination of Queensland Health's Child Death and Injury Review Model (CDIRM). This includes providing secretariat support to the Queensland Health CDIRM Steering Committee, coordinating information sharing between the Child Death Review Board, Hospital and Health Services, and external agencies, including the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC), and monitoring reviews and recommendations. This includes sensitive and confidential information.

What you'll do

  • Support research tasks, environmental scanning and analysis to identify future priorities and issues for Queensland Health and inform the development and review of policy matters.
  • Contribute to, analyse and report on submissions and other documentation covering a wide range of health-related matters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policy initiatives.
  • Assist and or contribute to the development and preparation of timely and well researched submissions, briefing notes, correspondence, discussion papers and reports.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

The successful applicant will have strong stakeholder engagement skills, an ability to prepare high-quality written material for a range of audiences and an ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information.

The essential requirements for this role are a demonstrated ability to:

  • critically analyse and interpret data and undertake research
  • write high-quality material, including ministerial and departmental briefs, reports and correspondence
  • provide project support in a policy context
