ABOUT THE ROLE
The Event Manager is to manage and support the planning and delivery of Football Australia match-days and tournaments, focusing on Club Competitions like the Australia Cup, National Second Tier, and National Youth Championships.
Lead the planning and delivery of Men’s and Women’s AFC and FIFA Club Competitions involving Football Australia Clubs. Support various stages of Club competitions and related events, including security, risk, venue standards, and general event operations. Assist in the preparation and implementation of new National Competition Products.
Support the planning and delivery of National Team matches, including the Subway Socceroos, CommBank Matildas, CommBank ParaRoos/ParaMatildas, and Junior international matches, along with open training sessions, fan days, and corporate events. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent delivery of operations across all events, aiming to create fan-focused events that enhance football's profile.
Attend weekly competition management meetings for the National Second Tier and Australia Cup, contributing to the improvement of event services and standards. Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, event contractors, and agencies. Assist senior managers in delivering other events and projects as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage and support the planning, coordination, and implementation of all operational aspects of assigned Football Australia events across bump in, match day and bump out periods. This includes but is not limited to accreditation, broadcast operations, sports presentation, catering, equipment, event information, match day operations, medical, precinct activities, security and police, signage, football operations, teams, venue planning and volunteers.
- Understand and ensure the successful implementation of Competition Regulatory Documents as may be required by FIFA, AFC or FA as the Competition Governing Body.
- Develop detailed event planning documentation including specific event templates, venue operation plans, risk assessments, team operations, run sheets and others, ensuring all plans and functional areas are integrated and cohesive. This may include reviewing and approving Club-developed documentation relating to Club-delivered match-days.
- Own and maintain event departmental process documentation, standards and templates, leading to continuous improvement and providing periodic training and reinforcing processes
- Manage the day-to-day liaison and where appropriate act as key contact with venue operators and freight company
- Conduct (and where relevant lead) regular event working group meetings and workshops with all internal departments and/or external stakeholders.
- Develop strong relationships with football stakeholders including FA Congress (including associations and Clubs), the A-Leagues, FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation and their respective members
- Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including broadcasters, sport presentation, security and signage contractors on the required event elements
- Liaise with sports presentation provider on all match day in stadia requirements and deliverables
- Work closely with internal Departments and commercial partners to create and implement fan engagement and sponsor driven outcomes for all Football Australia events
- Manage the implementation of a contemporary accreditation system for all Football Australia events and competitions.
- Support and contribute to event equipment inventory, storage and freight processes.
- Assist the Senior Manager, Events & Operations in the development of the Football Australia event calendar and venue selection for matches through the development of Government event proposals and review of venue hire terms
- Work with the Senior Manager, Events & Operations to develop and maintain the respective event budgets
- Research relevant market trends, international football, and other domestic entertainment products to ensure current knowledge of international best practice
- Continuously seek and actively promote improvements and refinements to event operation practices to ensure Football Australia employs best and strategically aligned practices.

ABOUT YOU
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong administrative, coordination and organisational skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills gained from previous work experience or community engagement roles.
- Prior experience delivering sporting matches that have a number of moving parts (e.g broadcast, ceremonies, ticketed crowds, community integration, VIP components) would be highly regarded.
- Comfortable standing up and making autonomous calls under pressure and at short notice, as well as empowering others to fulfil their roles and perform at their best.
- Team focused with an ability to work independently while keeping team-mates abreast of changes or considerations.
- Able to communicate with people from a range of different backgrounds and cultural contexts. You’ll be dealing with many different enquiries (often at the same time!), and you’ll draw on good instinct and interpersonal skills to get messages across.
- Highly self-motivated with an intrinsic desire to strive for excellence; shows initiative and wants to keep raising the bar and exceed expectations in a dynamic environment
- Projects will come thick and fast, so you’ll be someone who structures their time, pays high attention to detail, and a sense of what’s important in any given moment.

- International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
