Role Overview / Description

Reporting to a commercially astute CFO and working closely with the CEO and ELT, this Director - FP&A and Commercial Finance will play a pivotal role in building and leading a brand-new FP&A and Commercial Finance capability. This newly created role is central to supporting business strategy, pricing, investment and financial decision-making, and represents a rare opportunity to influence the future direction of one of Australia's fastest growing advanced manufacturing companies.

With a remit spanning strategic support, planning and analysis, pricing, risk, treasury and investor readiness, the successful candidate will step into a greenfield opportunity with full backing to shape the function and team. You will work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders across sales, production, procurement and operations, as well as external partners. This is a high-impact role, ideal for a leader who can bring corporate best practice while maintaining the agility and entrepreneurial mindset needed to thrive in a scale-up setting.

Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Support & Financial Analysis : Support strategy development and scenario modelling; work closely with the CEO and CFO on investment analysis and business planning
  2. Forecasting & Budgeting : Drive the 18-month rolling forecast model; refine and improve budgeting frameworks in line with business dynamics
  3. Pricing & Sales Support : Lead commercial pricing activity using ABC costing tools; partner with sales and marketing on market opportunities and margin optimisation
  4. Risk Management : Oversee relationships with insurance providers; assess and mitigate commercial and operational risks
  5. Treasury & Banking : Manage banking relationships and reporting obligations; ensure covenant compliance and support working capital optimisation
  6. Leadership : Build and lead the FP&A and Commercial Finance team; coach and mentor talent as the function scales
  7. Continuous Improvement : Identify and lead finance process improvements; drive automation, reporting and cost efficiency initiatives
  8. Stakeholder Management : Partner with senior leaders, board members, auditors and software consultants; support executive decision-making
  9. Ad Hoc Support : Provide strategic advice on contracts, investments and commercial decisions as required by the CFO and CEO

Candidate Profile

You are a qualified CA/CPA finance leader with strong experience across FP&A, commercial finance and strategic analysis. You bring depth of experience from blue chip listed environments, and are now looking for a broader leadership opportunity in a dynamic and fast-scaling environment. You bring sound technical accounting foundations, deep modelling capability, and a proven ability to influence commercial outcomes. Ideally, you've operated FMCG or manufacturing businesses where pricing, investment and margin optimisation were key. Your leadership style is proactive, grounded, and hands-on - you thrive when solving complex problems, and are exceptional in engaging senior stakeholders internally and externally.

Your training is in corporate land, however, your preference is to now join an ambitious private organisation where decisions get made quickly and people are valued.

The Company

This prominent and highly recognised Australian, family-run business is a true success story. They have the values of a founder led businesses matched with exceptional corporate capability amongst the ELT. Their new, cutting-edge production facility will rank among the world's largest for its product category, enabling rapid expansion into international markets.

With a flat structure and direct access to the executive team, the company fosters an entrepreneurial, fast-moving culture that values accountability, agility and respect. You'll join a capable, values-driven team that balances excellence with camaraderie - and you'll be instrumental in shaping their continued success story.
