Established in 1923 by the Hill-Smith family, Samuel Smith & Son services the liquor industry of Australia with a premium portfolio of family owned national and international fine wines and beverages. Both portfolios proudly represent outstanding family-owned wineries from Australia and abroad.About the roleBased in Hobart and reporting to the Region Manager – VIC/TAS, the Key Account Manager maintains, manages, and drives the most important accounts within the state across the Samuel Smith & Son and Negociants Australia portfolios. As the main contact for these key customers, the Key Account Manager anticipates and fulfils the customers’ needs and drives promotional activity within the company guidelines.The Key Account Manager function is accountable for both Samuel Smith & Son and Negociants Australia portfolios.
Key requirements• Commercial acumen that delivers results in line with budgeted margin and product mix expectations, with the ability to interpret data and form actionable insights around the category to leverage opportunity with customers.• Execution of activation plans provided by Customer Marketing, to deliver commercial success and elevate those brands.• Maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within the customer group and ensure that the portfolio is top of mind wherever possible for sales and promotional opportunities.• Drive category leadership through insights to deliver strategic alignment within customer joint business plans, along with relevant review processes.• Maintain and drive a strong promotional program within key accounts, focusing on priority brands and products.• Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained within wholesalers and collaborate on supply of limited imported products and accessories to market• The ability to identify, facilitate and then execute bespoke wine events and occasions within high profile venues. • Public speaking to large and small groups representing brand and portfolio category presentations to customers, trade and consumers.• Regular intrastate travel as required.
About youPrevious experience in the wine, hospitality or retail liquor industry is essential with a solid understanding of CRM, Territory Management and Commercial Focus. The ability to work autonomously is essential as is experience working with wine, WSET Level 3 or equivalent wine knowledge. An established network in the wine industry is preferred.Strong business development and sales skills are a must and a strong commercial acumen including comfort working with margins and reporting is essential along with the ability to actively source new business opportunities.A current unrestricted driving licence to operate a company vehicle(s) is essential for the role.
