The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the supervision of children and young people in the criminal justice system and for providing strategic advice and delivering strategic outcomes to address youth crime and reduce offending.
The Practice Leadership Team is a division that sits within the Clinical Oversight and Rehabilitation Team who are driven by their vision to be leaders in evidence-based, best-practice service design and delivery, in clinical and rehabilitative practices. Comprised of multiple specialist areas, including the Disability Advisory team, the Statewide Rehabilitation Service, Family Violence Practice Leads, the Manager, Multicultural Strategy, Policy, and Practice and the Aboriginal Principal Practitioner, the Clinical Oversight and Rehabilitation team is focussed on maintaining integrity in services through practice improvements, monitoring, reform implementation and service collaboration.
The Opportunity
- Ongoing, full-time position based in Melbourne - CBD.
- VPS Grade 6 role: $138,631 - $ 185,519 per year plus superannuation.
- Lead expert advice and consultation in relation to the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical services.
- Lead ongoing service and quality improvements of the team to ensure continued alignment with service standards and evidence-based practice, through contributing to the development of Practice Guidelines and policy documents, as well as participating and leading sessions at the Statewide Practice Leadership Forum.
- Actively participate in reviewing the suitability of research proposals requested of Youth Justice ensuring that research requests are consistent with Youth Justices strategic alignment and are ethically rigorous.
- Provide high quality supervision and access to professional development, developing and maintaining a culture that supports best practice.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience providing expert clinical advice to guide operational and policy settings that support system improvements.
- Experience in clinical leadership, evidence-based practice, reform and the Risk, Need, Responsivity (RNR) model.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 , the Youth Justice Bill 2024 , Child Safe Standards and other associated policies and guidelines.
- An allied health qualification in psychology, social work or related field, with applied course components.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
