About the Role:

Empowering individuals to navigate accessing NDIS.

As an Access Program Coordinator at ATSICHS Brisbane, you're entrusted with a crucial responsibility: facilitating access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for our community members. Here's what your role involves:

  • Guiding and supporting our team, stakeholders, and families to navigate the complexities of the NDIS, ensuring they understand their rights and options.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop strategies that enhance NDIS literacy and access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals with disabilities.
  • Playing a key role in empowering our clients by assisting them in accessing the NDIS, fostering their independence, and promoting their integration into the community.
  • Providing expertise and support to ensure our team delivers exceptional services, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and external agencies, ensuring culturally sensitive support and advocating their unique needs within the NDIS framework.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our services through participant in quality improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Establishing partnerships with external organizations to enhance our collective capacity to support both our team members and clients effectively.
  • In essence, our role is not just about facilitating access to a program but about empowering individuals, advocating for their rights, and building bridges to ensure they receive the support they need to thrive within their communities.

Desired Skills and Experience
COVID - 19 Requirements

Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid 19 vaccine is encouraged.

Essential:

  • Certificate III or higher qualifications in HealthCare, Social Assistance, Community Services or Administration.
  • Knowledge, understanding and/or awareness of the NDIS space and the challenges the participants may face.
  • Demonstrated ability to record accurate and consistent case notes.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply practice judgement when working with clients in building capacity to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of direction and to effectively communicate with and work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and to contribute to the development of creative and innovative services.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in working with culturally diverse people.
  • Is passionate about empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals.
  • Has a commitment to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive support.
  • Is a team player with a positive and proactive attitude.

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities.

Required

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence.
  • Current Criminal History Check.
  • Current Blue Crad.
  • Current Disability Worker Screening Worker (Yellow Crad).
  • Ability to travel across the designed service region as required.
