About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Staff Specialist within the South Australian Intellectually Disability Health Service, within the Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Division.

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is a leading provider of public healthcare services in South Australia.

As a Staff Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality healthcare services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Your responsibilities will include assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with a wide range of medical conditions, as well as collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. You will also contribute to teaching and training, as well as participating in research activities.

Your contribution to capacity building initiatives within the wider health system will be essential to improving access to mainstream services which meet the needs of people with an intellectual disability.

Whilst the position is located in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide, the South Australian Intellectual Disability Service provides services across South Australia and your role will include physical visits as well as teleconferencing to rural locations within the State.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, and appropriate Specialist Qualifications which are registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:

Lyell McEwin Hospital - The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services.

Modbury Hospital - A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.

Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes.

Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.

Community Sites - Elizabeth GP Plus, Modbury GP Plus and Gilles Plains GP Plus Super Clinics providing community based care.
