The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role
The Senior Manager role sits within the Planning, Governance and Coordination team. The team is responsible for functions that support the branch to delivery on its policy and legislative responsibilities and to drive reforms and results in best practice.

The role will be instrumental in setting up and driving new processes for planning and monitoring of the branch's work program, stakeholder engagement, procurement, recruitment, resource planning, risk management and governance.

The Senior Manager requires the ability to proactively develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, using influence and negotiation skills, alongside effective written and verbal communication skills, to support the provision of accurate, timely and audience-appropriate advice.

Strong project management skills and an understanding of government will be essential in the delivery of the position's purpose.

About you

To be considered for the role, you must be able to:

  • Provide the highest level of timely and strategic advice and support to the executive leadership team, Deputy Secretary and Minister for Consumer Affairs.
  • Lead the development of robust stakeholder engagement strategies and processes that support regulatory and legislative reform and implementation.
  • Identify stakeholder needs and expectations, and work to align them with organisational priorities and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and ensure the successful delivery of stakeholder meetings and consultations to foster productive dialogue and feedback.
  • Contribute advanced expertise and knowledge to the delivery of supporting functions including strategic planning, monitoring and reporting, procurement, contract management and recruitment.

Lead and manage a small team to deliver and seek continuous improvement to processes across the branch to be as efficient as possible. For specific responsibilities please review the attached position description.
