The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Senior Library Assistant within the Parliamentary Library. The Parliamentary Library provides high-quality information, analysis and advice to Senators and Members of Parliament in support of their parliamentary and representational roles.This position sits within the Library Collections and Systems Branch, and undertakes print and electronic collection maintenance activities and assists in maintaining records in the library system. This includes accessioning and processing print and electronic serials items, archiving electronic serials, assisting in maintaining print collection, binding the library collection, claiming of missing serial issues, and liaising with clients, internal staff and external agencies for the successful delivery of library products and services.
Applicants should have a strong client focus, attention to detail, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. We require flexible, proactive individuals with strong digital literacy skills and a willingness to learn new skills.
Qualifications in library and/or information studies recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association, or equivalent library experience is also desirable.
