About the team - The Transition Services Teams provide a central point of coordination, control and
governance for all ICT transition activities across an ITSM model and framework that supports ASC End Users and Technology Group to collaborate closely across all Service Towers.
They provide effective governance, control and management of change, release and deployment, knowledge and configurations that are essential for a well-functioning IT ecosystem that enables effective use, sustainability, and scalability across the organisation.
About the role - The Change & Release Manager (ASC 6) is responsible, under broad direction, responsible for managing the transition of new technology projects and/or enhancements and/or fixes (changes) of existing services or service elements into service operation.
You will be responsible for managing both project related and operational ICT changes that will affect or has the potential to affect live services or service offerings and will have full responsibility of ensuring effective governance, control, assessment and mitigation of risk to the security, availability, performance and impact on the business and more importantly maintaining our services to internal and external stakeholders.
You will also be responsible for governing and controlling to processes related to Release and Deployment to ensure critical stage gate approvals and reviews are completed prior to review and assessment under a designed and documented Change, Release & Deployment framework.
About you - In consultation with the Director of Transition Services, within a small, hands-on, multidisciplinary team, drive and implement the organisational strategic agenda to achieve section and business outcomes. This includes:
  • Lead, own and manage the Change Management process, including developing change processes and procedures as required.
  • Develop implementation plans for complex requests for change, including leading assessment, risk evaluation, analysis, development, documentation, communication and implementation of changes based on requests for change.
  • Lead the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release and deployment packages, including assessment of risk.
  • Liaise with business and technology teams on release and deployment scheduling and communication of progress.
  • Conduct post-change/release reviews to ensure release, deployment and change processes and procedures are applied and that changes can be rolled back as needed.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage the adoption of appropriate change, release and deployment tools, techniques and processes (including automation). • Develop and apply change control procedures to ensure governance is adhered to throughout the lifecycle of changes.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in ICT and/or demonstrated proven experience with coordination and facilitation of Technology Change, Release & Deployment Management processes and procedures.
  • Understanding the Solution Delivery Lifecycle and relationship to Change Management and Release & Deployment Management.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the ITIL best practice framework, with ITIL Certification considered advantageous.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Project Management methodologies, including Agile project delivery.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information to understanding of a layperson.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to influence and persuade others to work toward a common vision or goal.
