A new role awaits:
The Executive Officer/ Office Manager is responsible for the success and the effective functioning of the Tax Ombudsman office. The Executive Officer/Office Manager performs various secretariat, operational, financial, human resources, and administrative tasks to ensure the office and agency operations run smoothly and provides executive support and advice to the Agency Head.
This is a non-ongoing position for up to 12 months commencing from 1 July 2025, with a possibility of extension. We may create an order of merit to fill similar roles both ongoing and non-ongoing in future. This vacancy is for APS employees only.
The key duties of the position include
Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day office management and operations, ensuring efficiency in workflow, processes and administrative functions.
  • Provide Secretariat duties to the agency Executive and Health and Safety Committee - drafting agendas, minutes, actions, commissioning of papers
  • Acting as the main point of contact and liaison for the office, establishing, promoting and managing positive and productive relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Executive support - oversight and planning of the Agency head's diary and providing administrative support to make best use of their time.
  • Support to the Chief Operating Officer in managing the employee recognition program, staff induction program, onboarding/offboarding and other HR duties.
  • Manage minor procurements, invoice processing and acquittals and manage the supply of office materials.
  • Continuously improve the Agency's core office management processes and procedures.
  • Provide high level advice and support, and coordinate briefing to the Inspector-General, in support of the achievement of the strategic priorities of the agency and meeting key deadlines.
  • Manage Agency property including physical security, employee safety and assets.
  • Supporting the Executive in building organisational culture in line with the APS values.
