Make an impact at Serco

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Employment Lawyer to join our high-performing Legal and Risk team in Sydney. In this newly structured role, you’ll lead the delivery of strategic and consistent employment law advice across all operational business units in the Asia Pacific. You'll be instrumental in managing workplace compliance, employment litigation, and industrial relations matters—helping Serco meet its commitments under the Fair Work Act and relevant industrial instruments.

As a Legal Director – Employment in the Legal and Risk team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Managing legal responses and representation in employment law forums such as the FWC, FWO, and AHRC
  • Providing expert advice on Enterprise Agreements, Modern Awards, and employment contracts
  • Supporting investigations, complaints, and regulatory inquiries (e.g. WorkSafe, Comcare)
  • Advising on employment contract templates, wages compliance and legal risks in customer bids
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders and HR to ensure legally sound workplace practices
  • Leading communication on employment law changes across the business

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • 8–10+ years’ experience as an Employment Lawyer with FWC and regulatory experience
  • A Bachelor of Laws and an Unrestricted Practicing Certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the Fair Work Act and related instruments
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience advising senior stakeholders on complex workplace matters
  • A proactive, self-driven approach and comfort working autonomously
