About the role

An exciting opportunity to join Origin as a Senior Compliance Advisor based in Melbourne is now available. This is a critical role for Origin Retail, with the accountability for providing seasoned compliance advice based on your experience in the energy regulatory space to ensure the success of Origin’s Retail business. This role will have a significant impact in delivering a step-change for the Australian energy market.

You will report to the Group Compliance Leader and join the wider Retail legal and compliance team. This role works with internal stakeholders across our Retail business and also involves engaging with regulators in response to their queries and requests for information.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be a reliable subject matter expert in relation to the retail energy regulatory compliance framework
  • Provide clear, concise and accurate regulatory compliance advice
  • Lead responses to regulator inquiries and investigations
  • Develop and maintain internal stakeholder relationships and external regulator relationships
  • Provide compliance support for the investigation and remediation of compliance incidents
  • Provide compliance support for delivery of business goals and initiatives with compliance implications
  • Encourage compliance awareness and compliance culture across Retail
  • Support new regulatory changes

What will you bring?

You will be an excellent communicator and commercially focussed. With a proactive approach to business engagement and a hands-on operational focus, who can build solid commercial relationships with the Retail business. You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and knowledge of the retail regulatory framework is expected. You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • 3+ years in a compliance, regulatory, legal or retail energy role in a corporate or government environment
  • Experience partnering with the business to achieve compliance outcomes
  • Able to efficiently diagnose issues and recommend effective actions to rectify
  • Passion for continuous improvement
