  • VPS Grade 5: $113,022 - $136,747 per annum plus superannuation.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking two Senior Business Intelligence Developers to provide a critical role within Technology Solutions and Data Security.

Both roles are available for immediate filling. One contract will end 31 December 2025 and the other will end 28 February 2026.

About the Business Unit

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

Technology Solutions and Data Security is delivering the Data and Digital Reform Agenda, which focuses on meeting the department's data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes.

Technology Services and Data Security explores and employs technology to enable the department's business function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services. It supports enterprise-wide platforms and services including critical applications, networks, telecommunication, call centres, hosting, intranet/internet sites; delivers business and corporate funded project; and overseas the delivering of services provided by technology service providers such as Cenitex.

About the Role

The Senior Business Intelligence Developer will provide technical support in the development and delivery of BI solutions, and design and develop interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards in Power BI.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrable professional proficiency in developing and managing Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models, with advanced skills in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query.
  • Experience in building and optimizing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes within Power BI, including data cleansing and transformation using Power Query.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling concepts such as star and snowflake schema, relationships, and optimization of data models for performance.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying databases and integrating data from various sources into Power BI.
  • Ability to optimize Power BI reports and dashboards, improving performance for large datasets and ensuring scalability.

Qualifications/requirements

  • Graduate in information technology, computer science or information studies would be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power Query, Advanced DAX.
  • Demonstrated experience in data governance, architecture & data modelling.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, reporting and implementing business process and policies.
