About the Role:
The Project Officer, is responsible for the effective delivery of assigned projects and professional support functions that contribute to the achievement of the goals and objectives of River Murray programs. In this capacity the role manages, or contributes to, the delivery of complex projects that address a range of critical priorities including weir pool, floodplain and wetland management, and associated monitoring and adaptive management actions.
Multiple Project Officer roles are available to support exciting River Murray programs within the Water Infrastructure and Operations Environmental Water team. This includes providing scientific advice to understand River Murray risks and benefits and supporting the effective management of the River Murray and its wetlands. Due to a range of roles available, skills and experience requirements will be specific to a particular environmental program. This may include field-based monitoring with a focus on wetland and riparian vegetation identification and mapping; ecological, hydrological and environmental assessments including utilising GIS; developing wetland management plans and stakeholder engagement. In this capacity the role manages, or contributes to, the delivery of complex projects that address a range of critical priorities including weir pool, floodplain and wetland management, and associated monitoring and adaptive management actions.

Contract: This is a merit pool and successful applicants may be offered a role over the next 12 months based on business needs.
Essential Qualifications: Appropriate degree in Science, Environmental Management or equivalent
Special Conditions:
- May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties
- Current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential
- May require some intra/interstate travel
- Some out of hours may be required
Remuneration: PO2 ($88,255 min - $97,667 max ) p.a.

Applicants are to submit a pre-employment declaration, current CV and letter of application (max. 3 pages) addressing the following:
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of best practice river and wetland conservation, restoration and monitoring methods and general knowledge of riverine and wetland habitats and species.
- Experience in the provision of accurate technical advice regarding ecological science, including the collection and analysis / evaluation of monitoring results and data to support effective environmental water management. Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and data analysis tools is desirable.
- Demonstrates a fundamental and current knowledge of the processes, methods and frameworks associated with project management.
- Appropriate degree in Science, Environmental Management or equivalent is essential.
