  • Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term: Until December 2025
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Team Leader Payroll Operations is accountable to the Manager, Payroll Operations for leading a team providing accurate, timely and efficient fortnightly payroll services to the Department's employees, including the provision of complex payroll-related advice.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead a team of Payroll Advisors in providing comprehensive, customer focused payroll services to the department's employees.
  • Ensure the operational aspects of complex payroll processing and associated activities.
  • Identify and manage payroll related improvement activities including improvements to payroll related procedures and work practices.

The Team

The position of Team Leader, Payroll Operations forms a part of the People & Culture branch within the Corporate Services group.

The group works to build a safe, high-performing organisation where the department's people are supported to perform at their best. The group does this by providing strategic, operational and program delivery support services in creative and innovative ways.

The branch is a strategic, tactical and operational function, supporting the achievement of the department's objectives by providing excellent service and trusted advice. It has a clear focus on adding value to the department by supporting the Executive Board to drive DJSIR's organisational culture through a range of strategies and initiatives.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated skills in achieving outcomes through effectively leading, coaching, developing and empowering a team.
  • Proven experience in using the HR/Payroll Information Systems, Chris21 or other payrolls. High level of knowledge of payroll related legislation, policies and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide reports in a range of formats to meet specific management and stakeholder requirements.
