Description:
As a Leading Hand, you will play a key role in supervising the day-to-day operation by allocating tasks to staff to ensure daily requirements and acitivies are met and that the work is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and legislation. This role involves working with dangerous goods, therefore attention to detail and a commitment to following safety protocols is paramount.
This role is working Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse
- Handle dangerous goods in accordance with safety regulations
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report any issues
- Collaborate with team members to meet operational goals
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Supervise the day-to-day operation of the facility, allocating tasks to staff to ensure daily requirements are met, including order processing and despatch cut offs and vehicle requirements.
- Supervise daily activities to ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and legislation.
- Report immediately any hazard, injury, or incident or near miss/hit and assist in any investigation or follow-up.
- Be aware of and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures relating to your position and to support and assist the company in its goals towards certification.
- Conduct operations pre-operation and post-operation checks, inspections, and maintenance on any allocated equipment
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a team leader in a warehouse setting
- Hold an LF licence with a minimum of 2 years experience operating a High Reach Forklift (Toyota brand highly regarded)
- Experience operating a Combilift with an accreditation highly regarded
- Familiarity with handling dangerous goods
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and guidelines
- Attention to detail and precision in handling materials
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
