Cruise Whitsundays, based in Airlie Beach is the largest marine-based tour and transport provider in the Whitsundays. About the role

Step into the extraordinary as the Reefworld Chef, where you’ll report directly to the Reef Operations Manager and the Food & Beverage Manager to orchestrate one of Australia’s most breathtaking 5-star dining experiences set against the iconic backdrop of the Great Barrier Reef! In this exciting role, you will showcase your culinary creativity by crafting exquisite menus that delight the senses and elevate the dining experience for guests from around the globe. Your commitment to hygiene, cleanliness, and safety ensures a pristine environment, allowing you to focus on what you do best—creating unforgettable meals that captivate and inspire.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day kitchen operations at Reefworld with a hands-on approach.
  • Ensure 5-star service standards are maintained and exceeded for an exceptional guest experience.
  • Understand and accommodate food allergies and dietary requirements for diverse guests.
  • Maintain inventory and stock levels, crucial for operations on a remote pontoon.
  • Provide administrative support, including ordering, email management, and the creation of SOPs, policies, and procedures.

About you

The successful candidate thrives in a vibrant and dynamic working environment, 39 nautical miles from shore on the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef. You have the stamina to handle long hours on your feet, expertly navigating tight spaces while confidently managing heating elements in wet or slippery conditions. Adaptability is second nature with a roster of 8 days on, 6 days off. You work well as part of a team, collaborating effectively with other chefs and staff to ensure seamless service and exceed guest expectations. You are physically capable of lifting and moving stock, and you possess the refined skills needed for precise knife work, making you a culinary force ready to create memorable meals in this unique location.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A highly self-motivated, with great energy - A real multi-tasker;
  • Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and part of a team;
  • Proficiency with MS Office and general administrative tasks;
  • Confidence in using technology and communication devices;
  • High attention to detail and high standard of delivery;
  • Flexibility to work weekends and extended hours, living/working in an isolated location.

Requirements

  • Commercial Cookery qualification;
  • A minimum of at least 3 years’ experience in a similar chef’s role;
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA);
  • Food Safety Supervisor (Level 1 - SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety & Level 2 - SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices);
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID015 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation & Apply basic oxygen;
  • QLD Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card).
  • National Police Clearance
  • Elements of Shipboard Safety Skillset
