The opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to join Boeing Defence Australia's Supplier Quality team. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly impact the growth and development of the foundational Supplier Quality team as we enhance capabilities and strengthen our supply chain to support expansion of BDA's product and service offerings to global customers.
This role reports to the Supplier Quality Manager and you will be expected to work under thier general direction to independently determine and develop approaches to solve complex and challenging problems and deliver solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives and Quality Management System standards and processes.
Successful candidates must be skilled in data analytics and have strong experience working though Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies, e.g. 8D. A background working with suppliers to review trends and create improvement plans through collaborative partnerships is essential.
The role will be based in Brisbane with travel as-needed to supplier locations.

Position Responsibilities:
* Provides Quality interpretation of requirements.
* Develops quality metrics, equipment and process qualification plans for programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
* Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
* Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs
* Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness
* Provides material review dispositions suggestions for complex non-conformances as required.
* Analyzes non-conformance trends in supply chain to evaluate effectiveness of supplier corrective actions and recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances
* Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved
* Plans and conducts audits and assessments of supplier's systems, processes and products.
* Documents and reports audit and assessment results. Inspects or verifies products for compliance with requirements as required.
* Assists with assessments of supplier capability and capacity to perform current or potential future work.
* Provides supplier education and coaching on quality systems, regulatory compliance issues and company initiatives.
* Addresses routine issues and concerns in supplier quality and contributes to the development of strong supplier relationships.
* Represents Supplier Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
Technical Competencies
* Knowledge of assembly and production processes, manufacturing capabilities (e.g., composites, structures), and data needed for defining delivery configurations (e.g., design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, supplier data). Ability to differentiate production (manufacturing) processes and requirements from in-service procedures and requirements.
* Knowledge of producibility and process improvement methodologies (e.g., statistical process control [SPC], Hardware Variability Control [HVC], 6-Sigma).
* Knowledge of suppliers' capabilities to support Boeing production includes, but are not limited to production, technical, service and design management. Also included are knowledge of business systems, organizational structure, manufacturing processes, risk mitigation, capacity planning, past/present delivery performance, design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, and supplier data.
* Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various procurement departments/disciplines. Knowledge of the interactions between departments/disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-Procurement processes (e.g., Engineering, Business, Operations, Logistics).
* Knowledge of drawing/data systems (e.g., ""used on"" drawings, part relationships, product data management) and configuration management principles and processes (e.g., part number control, revision level, naming conventions, product identification numbering systems)
Typical Education and Experience
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
