About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by providing assistance to the operational coordination and logistics of the Salamanca Market or any interim market, ensuring the market is safe for stallholders and patrons and delivers a quality customer experience.

Role accountabilities include:

    • Assist market stallholders including responding to requests for assistance and referring matters to the Market Supervisor or Market Team Leader as necessary.
    • Assist and/or direct stallholders/members of the public in emergency situations.
    • Monitor and empty waste bins collect any litter or debris from the market area and Salamanca lawns.
    • Operation of market tractors and Glutton Vac (vacuum machine) once verified as competent.
    • Removal and reinstatement of a wide variety of infrastructure to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the market.
    • Use onsite communications such as radios in accordance with market protocols.
    • Assist with the collection and return of the mobile Salamanca Market information booth from Cleary’s Gates and set the booth up onsite.
    • Set up and removal of stallholder and patron tables, benches and bean bags as required.
    • Assist with the removal of vehicles in accordance with the instructions given by the Market Supervisor or Market Team Leader and monitor vehicular access into and out of market area.

About you

The desired applicant will be currently employed with the City of Hobart , either as a permanent or fixed term employee. They will have a current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People and Driver Licence.

The following are desirable but not mandatory:

  • Medium Rigid Drivers Licence.
  • Fire Warden training.
  • Manual handling training.
  • Provide First Aid, Basic Emergency Life Support and CPR.
  • Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry – White Card.
