Job Description
YOUR ROLE
The Curriculum Renewal Officer is a newly created role within the Catholic Mission and Identity Team, established to support transformational change in Religious Education across MACS schools as part of the MACS 2030 Strategic Plan. This role is designed to support the Catholic Mission and Identity team across a range of tasks, including the design and delivery of a renewed, high-quality Religious Education curriculum that authentically integrates Catholic tradition with contemporary, evidence-based educational practice. This role would suit an experienced educator with strong theological or Religious Education expertise, curriculum development experience, and a collaborative approach to project coordination. The Catholic Mission and Identity team is focused on deepening Catholic faith formation, strengthening school and parish partnerships, and delivering mission-aligned learning experiences that foster flourishing learners and faith-filled communities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Co-design and support the delivery of a high-ambition K-10 Religious Education (RE) curriculum aligned with Catholic intellectual tradition and contemporary teaching practices.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop instructional materials that are mission-aligned, content-rich, and developmentally appropriate.
- Integrate classical education principles to enrich curriculum content across key disciplines including art, literature, theology, and philosophy.
- Identify and recommend resourcing to support RE teachers in enhancing both spiritual and academic student development.
- Coordinate consultation and feedback processes with subject matter experts, MACS teams, and Catholic school partners to inform curriculum design.
- Facilitate sensory-based RE approaches for early primary years (F–2), supporting pedagogical excellence through evidence-based practices.
ABOUT YOU
- You bring strong expertise in Religious Education, theology, or curriculum development, with a deep understanding of Catholic education.
- You have experience managing or contributing to education-focused projects, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
- You’re an excellent communicator and collaborator, comfortable working with diverse stakeholders across schools and education systems.
- You’re proactive, well-organised, and capable of working independently while contributing meaningfully within a team.
- You demonstrate a commitment to educational excellence and continuous improvement in line with MACS values and strategic objectives.
- You have strong digital literacy and can confidently engage with instructional design tools and data-informed approaches to curriculum.
Salary range for this position is $117,064 (EO1) - $137,125 (EO5) per annum exclusive of superannuation as specified in the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022.
