Guided by the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care, the Office for Early Childhood Development is the steward of the early childhood development system in South Australia.
The Office is tasked with a significant responsibility: bringing together a holistic, connected system for early childhood development across South Australia, with the goal of reducing the rate of children entering school developmental vulnerable. Critical to this is the roll-out of universal 3-year-old preschool from 2026, giving every child access to 2 years of teacher-led, play-based early learning before school.
About this role:
As a Program Officer in the Program Management Office, you will support the delivery of complex programs and projects across the early childhood development portfolio. The role also has a strong administrative component. You will be expected to provide structured support to governance groups and internal committees, including agenda setting, minute-taking, and tracking action items. This aspect of the role is vital, and candidates should be comfortable with administrative responsibilities that support effective decision-making. The role also involves providing research support to governance groups, identifying risks and delivery challenges early, and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
As a Program Officer , you will:
- plan, coordinate, and monitor high-quality project support activities across the PMO.
- prepare detailed reports, project documents, and Ministerial briefings.
- support committees and stakeholder groups, including agenda preparation and minute taking.
- track project progress, identify risks, and contribute to solutions that keep delivery on schedule.
- foster strong, productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- collaborate with teams on procurement, change readiness, and engagement planning.
- ensure compliance with safety, ethics, and public sector governance requirements.
