Role Overview
Our client is currently seeking a Construction Manager for an active project located in Wagerup. This is a key leadership role, suited for candidates with substantial experience in large-scale tailings and impoundment construction, large scale bulk earthworks packages, particularly with geomembrane and ellectrical installations, and oversight of structural, piping and mechanical works from the client’s side. This position focus and responsibilities are for all aspects of the daily construction activities of the project delivery.
A strong understanding of quality assurance (QA) standards in this field is essential.
This is a site-based, drive-in drive-out (DIDO) position for an initial 12-month contract. For the right candidate, there is strong potential for ongoing work beyond the initial contract based on project needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Reports to the Project Manager – Acts under the direction of the Project Manager, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.Safety & Environmental Compliance – Ensures all site activities meet safety and environmental objectives.Site & Contractor Management – Leads the owner’s construction team and manages contractors to uphold EHS&T standards, coordinate construction priorities, and ensure effective planning, reporting, and documentation.Budget & Schedule Oversight – Drives adherence to project budgets and timelines across all construction packages.Resource Planning – Ensures sufficient resources are allocated for safe and efficient execution.Methodology Review – Reviews and approves contractors’ proposed construction methods for compliance and feasibility.Daily Construction Oversight – Manages day-to-day site activities from initiation through to commissioning and handover.Stakeholder Communication – Clearly communicates owner’s requirements to all project personnel and contractors.Safety Enforcement & Compliance – Ensures a safe work environment by enforcing policies, verifying training, and complying with WHS legislation and standards.Statutory Responsibility – Carries out statutory duties where appointed.Plan Verification – Reviews site plans to ensure they remain accurate and relevant throughout construction.Risk Management – Identifies and assesses risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.Contract Compliance – Verifies that all contractor work complies with contractual obligations.Quality Assurance – Ensures all construction activities meet specified QA requirements.Asset Handover – Responsible for the successful handover of constructed assets from the project team to operations.Handover Documentation – Prepares and delivers all necessary handover documentation and obtains operational sign-off.
What you’ll have:
Qualifications
Preferred: Diploma in Construction Management or Project Management.Alternative: Trade-qualified professional with a civil construction background.Additional (Preferred): Completion of BSBWHS414 (WHS Risk Management) and BSBWHS411 (WHS Policy Implementation).
Experience
Construction Industry: Over 15 years of experience in the field.Leadership: Minimum 5 years in a Construction Manager or Superintendent role.Contract Types: Experience managing EPC, EPMC, D&C, and Turnkey contracts—client-side experience preferred.Specialised Work: Background in constructing tailings storage facilities is an advantage.
