Do you have a positive attitude, a good work ethic, and are excited about the thought of working on the deck of a vessel? If so, we have an opportunity for a Lines Boat Deckhand to join our team in Port Kembla, NSW, on a casual basis.
Due to the nature of the position being required to potentially relief at short notice, preference will be given to candidates who reside within two hours of the operation or are willing to relocate at their own expense.

What You Will Do
Reporting to the Port Manager and the Leading Hand, this position offers you the opportunity to perform deck and general-purpose duties on our vessels in the port. Your key responsibilities in this position will include:
Securing and releasing lines for mooring and unmooring vessels.General maintenance of vessels, equipment, firefighting and environmental protection equipment and relevant store-based facilitiesHandling of stores and equipmentCompliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance and ISM proceduresEnsuring day to day compliance with relevant environmental regulationsParticipating in operational improvement exercises as required and liaise with Svitzer management regarding the improvement of operational procedures
What You Will Need To Succeed
To thrive this position, you should demonstrate:
A minimum General Purpose Hand Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or higher.Current statements of attainment in Provide First Aid and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)A current AMSA Medical applicable to your Certificate of CompetencyA valid MSIC or ‘Job Ready’ MSIC Application (or proof of ability to obtain)A keen interest in the towage industry and willingness to develop your skillsMotivation towards safe workplace practices and complianceAbility to work as part of a team and build excellent working relationships with external customersAbility to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situationsExcellent communication skills in both verbal and writtenGood problem-solving and fault-finding skillsThe right to live and work in Australia
