About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and proactive WHSE Advisor looking for a new challenge to deliver expert WHSE advice and support on a permanent full-time basis. You will assist with the company’s pursuit of a proactive safety culture. This position will Observe, engage, and interact with site management to understand any WHSE issues and challenges faced in day-to-day operations.
You will assist with the mitigation of safety risks and hazards, prevention of workplace incidents and work to improve regulatory compliance and the promotion of a safe culture at all levels across our business.
This position is based in our Southbank office and covers our southern region, with sites across Regional Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia. Please note this role requires travel to regional Victoria (approx. 5 times per month) and interstate (approx. 6 times per year). However, a fully maintained company car is provided to assist with these travel requirements.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Supporting the implementation of safety initiatives, assisting the business to achieve a safe workplace with controlled hazards.
- Providing advice, coaching and feedback to managers to develop their WHSE knowledge and capability, as well as supporting them in identifying, assessing, controlling, and reviewing hazards.
- Assisting in the provision of safe systems of work across the Pentarch Group.
- Undertaking site inspections and audits of Pentarch safety management system.
- Undertaking and advising on ICAM investigations as required.
- Facilitating standard risk assessments as required.
- Monitor, measure, track and report on activity planner initiatives and corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations, inspections and audits.
- Identifying workforce WHSE training and knowledge gaps and assisting in the coordination, facilitation, and delivery of WHSE training programs.
The successful applicants will have:
- Extensive experience in safety role within a high-risk business (essential).
- Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or relevant tertiary qualification in a related field is required.
- ICAM Lead Investigator and Internal Auditor certifications are essential.
- Comprehensive knowledge of WHS Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and standards
- A proven track record of conducting WHSE inspections, audits, incident investigations and reporting related matters.
- Experience in facilitating standard risk assessments and assisting with complex risk assessments.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to lead and engage a team as well as, influence and encourage positive behaviours.
- Familiarity with the use of WHSE reporting and record keeping systems.
