NSW Government Opportunity | Lead Large-Scale Infrastructure Projects
Are you a senior project professional experienced in delivering high-value capital works? This is a unique opportunity to join a major NSW Government program, managing complex infrastructure projects that make a lasting impact across communities in New South Wales.
We are seeking a Project Director to lead and manage infrastructure projects valued at over $20 million. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle—from initiation through delivery—ensuring strong governance, effective stakeholder engagement, and successful outcomes across scope, time, budget, and quality.
About the Role As a Project Director, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of major works projects within a NSW Government department. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading end-to-end delivery of high-value infrastructure projects through planning, procurement, and construction
  • Managing stakeholder engagement, including local councils and communities
  • Ensuring procurement, contract management, and probity align with NSW Government guidelines
  • Reporting on project performance, milestones, and cash flows, including ministerial updates
  • Overseeing risk management, WHS compliance, and statutory planning approvals
  • Mentoring team members and building a collaborative, outcome-focused project environment
  • Selecting and overseeing communications and engagement agencies to ensure public transparency and a positive legacy
Key Requirements:
  • Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
  • 10+ years' experience in project planning and delivery, including projects exceeding $20 million in value
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills in complex and dynamic environments
  • Experience in long-duration infrastructure projects with multiple phases and diverse stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage risk, reporting, and communications in high-profile government settings
  • Current driver’s licence
