Kathe r ine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Sexual Health Nurse This position will be well suited to someone who eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a general registered nurse and possess a current practicing certificate, with an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.
Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.
Position Description
About the Opportunity
Katherine West Health Board is looking for a dedicated Sexual Health Nurse. This role works as part of the Sexual Health program to deliver a comprehensive, best practice and culturally appropriate sexual health and blood borne virus (BBV) prevention and management service.
Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Support the Sexual Health Coordinator with the maintenance and review of the sexual health program across the Katherine West region.
- Prioritise and coordinate the delivery of sexual health services based on needs identified through surveillance programs.
- Provide clinical leadership to health centre staff in the identification and treatment of STI and BBV within the Katherine West region.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality and evidence-based health information to health care providers and community members.
- Coordinate the collection, analysis, and timely feedback of sexual health information to the Board, communities, health centre staff and management.
- Support local research in sexual health.
