Risk Management (RM) is responsible for developing and communicating CBA’s risk management frameworks to allow CBA to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within the approved risk appetite. RM has policy teams that specialise in the different risk types as well as business unit risk teams to provide oversight. These areas collaborate with each other and specific areas within CBA to implement the Risk Management frameworks.

This team provides Line 2 oversight for the Group Support Units (GSU) and provides independent review and challenge of Operational Risk and Compliance activities within GSU. GSU include Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Finance, Property, HR, Strategy, Mergers Acquisitions and Divestments, Legal, Group Secretariat, Speak-Up, Environmental and Social, Customer Advocate and Risk Management.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to review a broad range of obligations applicable to support units including industrial relations, taxation laws, and APRA prudential standards. As Manager Compliance, you will be responsible for providing oversight to ensure business activities, are conducted in accordance with the Compliance Management Framework, and that the Compliance Management Framework is effectively implemented within the support functions.

On any given day you will:

  • Contributing to the design, implementation and on-going improvement of GSU Compliance’s processes and procedures.

  • Understanding the regulatory environment and analysing and performing assessments on the impact of proposed, new and amended laws, regulations and industry codes.

  • Identifying legal and regulatory compliance obligations for the support functions, and reviewing the adequacy of controls and level of compliance with these obligations.

  • Evaluating, assessing and advising on compliance issues and incidents, and working with compliance teams or other business areas on cross-Business Unit compliance matters;

  • Supporting reporting on compliance exposures for the support units, specifically in the preparation of reporting for Non-Financial Risk Committees or other compliance reporting as needed.

  • Assisting in the planning, co-ordination and performance of compliance monitoring to agreed schedules.

  • Contributing to ensuring the Compliance Risk Management Framework is implemented and operating effectively, including supporting the assessment of compliance risks.

  • Developing and providing compliance training to Line 1 risk on key compliance processes and obligations as required.

  • Advising Line 1 teams on a range of compliance matters.

  • Building strong working relationships with Group functions, Line 1 risk and business stakeholders.

  • Sound knowledge of Compliance risk management frameworks, tools and techniques.

  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
