Description:

McArthur is seeking an Injury Management & Return to Work Coordinator, who will support the WHS Team through implementation and maintenance of processes for workers compensation, injury management, fitness for work and health & wellbeing.

This is a great temporary opportunity until 19th August 2025 and is in a fantastic location walking distance from the Dock. The position offers full time hours, is immediately available, and has a casual rate of $53-$58 per hour + Superannuation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop procedures, processes and systems, and provide advice to managers and supervisors relating to fitness for work, workers compensation, injury management, rehabilitation and return to work processes.
  • Monitor and review work systems, practices, and administrative processes to ensure workers compensation claim management and return to work complies with legislative requirements.
  • Manage, coordinate and monitor all aspects of workers compensation, injury management, rehabilitation and return to work for employees with work and non-work related injuries or illnesses.
  • Facilitate regular contact between the injured employee, their manager and other stakeholders including rehabilitation providers, physicians and the Insurer.
  • Prepare return to work and injury management plans in consultation with the injured employee, the treating physician, manager, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and monitor rehabilitation programs, and work with employees and their manager to achieve their full pre-injury or illness return-to-work potential, identify appropriate duties to facilitate temporary and permanent redeployment to accommodate the return to work of injured / ill employees across the Council.
  • Undertake case management planning and reviews with internal and external providers, the insurer and management.
  • Facilitate and undertake projects relevant to Health and Wellbeing initiatives at the Council in line with the Corporate Strategy.
  • Develop and implement strategies identified under the fitness for work strategy and procedures to assist the Council in managing its workforce and to deliver initiatives to ensure the workforce is fit and able to undertake their duties.
  • Where required, liaise with supervisors, managers and the Manager People and Capability to identify appropriate duties to facilitate temporary and permanent redeployment across the organisation.
  • Participate in or undertake projects and initiatives and provide appropriate, accurate and reliable reports as required.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Return-to-Work Coordinator
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of contemporary workplace injury management practices and workers compensation legislation.
  • Well-developed case management skills including problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Currently hold a diploma, or certificate in Personal Injury and Disability Insurance Management
  • Previous experience working in a Local Government setting
