The Queensland Police Service (QPS) Emergency Management & Coordination Command (EMCC) supports locally led and safe, resilient communities throughout Queensland. The Command is focused on enhancing whole of government capability and delivering state level support to disaster operations based on the requirements of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA).Please refer to role profile for full details.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the curriculum development team to ensure the development, review, and continuous improvement of disaster management curriculum in support of the requirements of Queensland disaster management stakeholders.
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Lead the development, implementation, review and evaluation of disaster management curriculum products and resources to support disaster management training.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practice frameworks and guidelines in relation to disaster management education and training.
- Liaise, consult, and foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders regarding the design, development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and training programs.
- Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders in relation to disaster management training.
- Lead, manage, and coordinate the provision of workshops and meetings to support state and national committees relating to disaster management curriculum matters.
- Prepare reports, submissions, briefs, and correspondence on a broad range of education and training issues.
- Review and analyse post-event and post-exercise assessment reports and identify issues that impact on disaster management activities and provide recommendations for curriculum improvement strategies.
- Manage the curriculum development team, fostering positive teamwork and supporting development and reviewing performance.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience -
- Knowledge, experience, or qualifications in training and education, and/or disaster management will be highly regarded.
- Capacity to support operational duties during disaster events. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include deployment to other parts of the State.
