Maintenance Worker – Drainage

Wangaratta, VIC | Full-Time | Permanent | $63,908 per annum + Super

We’re looking for a hardworking, safety-conscious, and team-oriented Maintenance Worker – Drainage to join the Works & Operations team at the Rural City of Wangaratta. If you love working outdoors, operating machinery, and making a visible impact every day, this is the job for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and repair Council’s stormwater drainage systems, including pits, pipes, culverts, and open drains
  • Operate machinery and vehicles related to drainage maintenance (e.g. jetters, excavators, trucks)
  • Record inspections, works completed, and time/hours accurately
  • Follow traffic control procedures to ensure safe worksites for the team and the public
  • Support other work crews as needed and provide on-the-job guidance to new team members
  • Suggest practical improvements to work processes and service delivery

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in drainage maintenance or construction
  • Confidence operating plant and equipment related to drainage works
  • A solid understanding of safety on work sites, with a strong commitment to OH\\&S practices
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions clearly
  • Great time management skills and the ability to work independently when required
  • A customer-focused attitude when interacting with the public
  • Current Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence** (mandatory)
  • Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) (mandatory)
  • Chainsaw Operator Certificate (Trim & Cross-Cut) — preferred but not essential
