Who we are
The Grant Systems Section (GSS) is responsible for the management and administration of the National Health and Medical Research Council's (NHMRC) grant management platform (Sapphire) and operational reporting environment. Its broader responsibilities include contract and service delivery, project delivery, system support and configuration.
Who we are seeking
NHMRC is seeking an experienced and high performing candidate to fill the role of Test Manager. Our ideal candidate is a will have a strong background in software testing and quality assurance, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
Note
The location for this role is flexible, it can be in our Canberra or Melbourne offices or any location within Australia.
The key duties of the position include
Job specific duties
As the Test Manager, to support the delivery of NHMRCs refreshed granting platform, Sapphire, you will:
• Lead the testing efforts for the project, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
• Coordinate with the development team to understand requirements and design effective testing strategies.
• Coordinate with the project management team on procurement of non-functional testing expertise, for example, performance and security vulnerability testing.
• Prepare test documentation including Test Strategy, Test Plans (including a Test Data Management Plan), test cases, and test scripts.
• Validate and test user stories using accepted manual testing processes.
• Create and run automation tests with support.
• Execute manual and automated tests, and report on test results.
• Identify, document and track defects and work with the development team to resolve them.
• Ensure that all testing activities are conducted in accordance with industry best practices and standards.
Core capabilities
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:
• Conduct thorough testing of the user interfaces and user experiences of the Grants Management System.
• Proven experience in facilitating the development and implementation of an effective test management strategy and plan.
• Strong experience in managing testing phase activities including functional, system integration, data migration and UAT testing.
• Strong skills in the development and execution of test scenarios and cases with teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills including the development of test management tools and frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Minimum 5 years testing experience in a software testing role.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent.
• Software Integration testing with 3rd party applications.
• An understanding of modern testing practices.
