About the Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a strategic, commercially focused Chief Financial Officer to join Hop Products Australia (HPA), Australia’s leading hop grower and supplier to the global brewing industry. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of HPA’s success, partnering closely with the CEO and Board to drive sustainable growth and operational excellence.
Based in Hobart, Tasmania, the CFO will oversee all financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, reporting, treasury, risk management, and compliance. This role also holds responsibility as Company Secretary, contributing to governance and board engagement, while directly managing the Financial Controller and leading a capable and committed finance team.
Key Responsibilities
The CFO will lead the development and execution of HPA’s financial strategy, aligning with broader business objectives and growth plans. This includes:
Providing strategic financial advice to the CEO, Board, and Leadership Team, enabling critical business decisions.Driving financial forecasting, budgeting, and commercial analysis to support a forward-thinking, data-driven culture.Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual results to internal and external stakeholders.Managing treasury functions, foreign exchange exposure, capital investment, and cash flow.Leading risk management frameworks, compliance functions, and financial governance.Acting as Company Secretary, ensuring best-practice governance and communication with the Board.Overseeing cost optimisation initiatives, financial systems, and digital transformation within the finance function.Building strong relationships with financial institutions, auditors, investors, and advisors.Leading and developing a high-performing finance team that partners with the business.
About You
You are a commercially astute and strategic finance executive with experience operating at CFO or senior finance leadership level in a dynamic, growth-oriented business. You hold tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, or a related field, with CA or CPA accreditation preferred.
You bring strong financial and commercial acumen, with expertise across capital management, reporting, forecasting, and cost control. You are known for your ability to provide clear insights and drive financially sound decision-making. Experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, or a product-based industry will be highly regarded.
