Your Mission: We are currently seeking a meticulous and results-driven Project Cost Controller to join our Project Team. As a Cost Controller, you will play a vital role in the organization's financial health by overseeing and managing scope costs and forecasting. Working with and under guidance of the Senior Project Controls Coordinator as part of a broader Project Controls team, this position is integral to the company's goals and objectives, contributing to accurate financial reporting, budget adherence, and proactive decision-making. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure effective cost-control measures are implemented, cost forecasting and cash flow projections are accurate.
Your Day-to-Day Adventures: Cost Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of project and supplier costs, identifying variances, and trends and working with project teams to mitigate and proactively pursue saving opportunities.Forecasting: Assist in the development of financial forecasts by providing accurate and timely information on project costs and expenditures.Budget Oversight: Collaborate with project managers, and members of the project team to develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with overall project financial objectives. Manage purchase order requests, approvals, and entries within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.Reporting: Generate regular cost reports for project managers and scope managers, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.Business Analysis: Workflow process analysis, development, optimisation and system implementation and improvementFinancial Compliance: Ensure project costs adhere to established financial policies, procedures, and industry standards. Implement corrective measures as needed.Risk Assessment: Record potential cost-related risks and work with project teams to develop mitigation strategies.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project management, procurement, and accounting, to streamline cost control processes.
Candidate/Employee Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to fill the role of Cost Controller/Cost Engineer. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive and collaborative approach to cost control and will have a strong financial acumen and the ability to analyze complex data sets to provide meaningful insights. Effective communication skills are essential, as you will interact with various stakeholders to ensure project costs align with financial objectives. A keen eye for detail, adaptability, and the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams are key attributes that will contribute to your success in this role.
What You Bring: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost control, project engineering or a similar role with responsibility for managing project costs.Proficiency in financial analysis, cost control methodologies, and financial reporting, including experience in applying Cost Breakdown Structures and Work Breakdown Structures.Certification in Project Management, cost control, or related financial disciplines is preferred.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Information Systems or a related field looked upon favorably.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve financial goals.Strong competency in Excel and PowerBI or Tableu, Experience in Financial and purchasing modules of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, SAP, JDE).Experience working with Project Management Cost Control Systems (for example Procore) and planning tools (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, but not limited too) looked upon favorably.
