ATEC Group Training employs apprentices and hosts them out to one or more Host Employers throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. This gives you the opportunity to develop your trade skills by working in different environments and ensuring continuous employment.

Apprentice Carpenter – Residential Construction

Kickstart your career in carpentry with hands-on experience across a variety of residential construction sites. From home renovations to new builds, this apprenticeship offers the opportunity to learn the full scope of carpentry skills under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.

About the Role:

As an Apprentice Carpenter, you’ll work across multiple job sites in the private residential sector. You’ll gain practical, on-the-job training and industry knowledge to set you up for a successful future in the trade.

Please note: This position requires travel between different work sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Constructing flooring systems, wall frames, and roofing structures
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling timber and other materials
  • Reading and interpreting building plans and technical drawings
  • Performing manual handling tasks and general labouring
  • Operating a range of hand and power tools
  • Completing basic calculations based on plans and measurements

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is motivated, reliable, and ready to learn. To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A genuine interest in carpentry and construction
  • A love for working outdoors and doing hands-on work
  • The ability to follow instructions and work independently when required
  • Great attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Physical fitness to handle manual labour tasks
  • A track record of punctuality and reliability

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment assessment, including drug and alcohol screening
  • Previous labouring or on-site construction experience (desirable)

Completion of a Certificate II in Construction Pathways or similar (desirable)
