About This Opportunity
Join our team at Patina at Alumni Court, a modern, contemporary restaurant located on the University of Queensland's St Lucia campus. As a Commis Chef, you'll play a key role in producing high-quality restaurant and function food, working alongside our talented Sous Chef. Our restaurant offers a unique shared dining experience with a focus on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. You'll also have the opportunity to cater to both on-site and off-site events.
To succeed in this role, you'll need to be available to work 38 hours per week on a flexible seven-day roster, including weekends and evenings.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Food Production: Produce all food for Patina at Alumni Court and in-house/outside catering events.

Quality Control: Maintain high food quality standards and ensure adherence to recipes.

Inventory Management: Manage stock, including receiving, storage, rotation, and stocktakes.

Ensure compliance with food safety standards, maintain a hygienic workspace, and accurately record temperatures for cold storage and incoming stock.

Operational Support: Prepare mise en place, inform the chef of maintenance issues, and assist with general kitchen duties.

About You
-
Completion of apprenticeship in cookery
-
Current BCC Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the role of Commis Chef in a similar establishment
-
Valid Driving License
-
Strong knowledge of the production of a la carte and banquet foods and kitchen procedures and operations
-
A genuine interest in and knowledge of food and current trends
-
Excellent organisational skills
-
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer driven focus
-
Knowledge of general kitchen health and safety procedures, and HACCP and BCC procedures regarding food, health and safety
-
High standard of personal hygiene
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia and education check.
