The Role
The Pacific Systems Program Office (PACSPO) is seeking an APS 6 Materiel Logistics Officer to join our team. Your work delivering logistics support to the team and the broader Pacific Maritime Security Program will directly support the Department of Defence and our partnering Pacific Island Nations.
In this role, you will be responsible for the management, delivery and support of a range of common products and system's across the Guardian Class Patrol Boat (GCPB) fleet, Pacific Patrol Boats (PPB) and Small Landing Craft (SLC) in particular management of the GCPB rotatable pool program, inventory procurement, optimisation and forecasting.
This role will also require your involvement within PACSPO for activities such as Internal and External Audits, and Compliance, Governance and Assurance Activities.
You will work closely with a team of experts across a unique workforce and stakeholders consisting of Pacific Island Nation Crews, Australian Public Servants, Australian Defence Force members, Contractors, and Industry Partners.
You will need to possess strong leadership skills to motivate and guide the Enterprise towards achieving operational efficiency and meeting organisational goals. A focus on Inventory optimisation will be paramount, underpinned by well thought-out stocking policies, cost-effectiveness solutions and streamlined processes.

The workplace environment requirements for this role include:
- Sitting at desk.
- Lifting 0-15kg.
- May work outdoors or in a warehouse environment.
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
About our Team
Since the 1960s, Australia has undertaken a range of capacity-building and engagement activities in the South Pacific and Southeast Asia under the Defence Cooperation Program.
The centrepiece of Australia's Defence engagement in the South Pacific is the Pacific Maritime Security Program, which amongst a broad range of other partnering activities with participating Pacific Nations, involved the gifting of 22 Pacific Class Patrol Boats between 1987 - 1997 and the current PPB replacement program, which will provide 22 new Guardian Class Patrol Boats to participating Pacific Island countries.
Recognising that the boats are sovereign assets of the participating nations, Australia is committed to providing a range of engineering, technical and logistics support services to ensure the ongoing operational capability of the fleet of vessels operated by our partner Nations in the Pacific.
This is provisioned through the Pacific System Program Office (PACSPO). Your role in the delivery of materiel logistics support for the fleet will provide a vital input to maintaining capability for Pacific Island countries.

As the APS 6 Materiel Logistics Officer within the PACSPO, you will work in a dynamic and diverse environment requiring a number of key competencies.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Have demonstrated experience and comprehensive knowledge of logistics management, ideally within a maritime sustainment environment, coupled with rotatable item management experience, would be highly advantageous for this role.
- Possess a combination of leadership qualities, technical ability, and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrate a keen eye for detail, analytical problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Have exceptionally strong communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including those with English as a second language.
- You will be someone who can write clearly, succinctly and correctly, structuring information and convincing through your writing.
- Have an ability to learn rapidly, gather and understand information quickly, and ensure an organisational learning approach.
- Be energetic, take responsibility for personal and team outcomes, monitor progress and follow through to deliver quality outcomes.
