About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and highly organised person to join our logistics team. Working closely with the Logistics Manager this role will ensure consistent processes for our logistics operations for the Cairns Region, Remote areas and internal transfers.

In this role you will lead and take ownership to safely deliver goods to our customers whilst having a strong desire to work as a part of a total team and to drive improvement. You will proactively manage changes and assess delivery needs, supervise and lead the driver team to ensure customer orders are fulfilled.

We require a motivated and enthusiastic person who wants to drive growth while learning the ropes of being part of a busy team. You will get the opportunity for ongoing training and development to improve your leadership skills, logistics skills and the chance to work in different areas of the business whilst pursuing growth and learning on a daily basis.

Responsibilities will include

Prior experience with logistics is essential. The role is well suited to someone with confidence who enjoys working with people.

  • Liaise with branch managers and orders team regarding customer expectations
  • Coordinate daily delivery schedules for all drivers
  • Ensure the fleet and logistics teams are effectively utilised and arrange relief drivers where required
  • Manage the local, remote & internal transport and logistics functions to meet customer expectations
  • Ensure goods match run sheets and are accurately accounted for and checked off with the relative representative
  • Move, relocate and load stock in keeping with the company workplace health and safety practices
  • Vehicles and Plant are kept in a clean and operatable manner and any defects and faults are reported and plant is tagged out until the defects or faults are resolved
  • Follow up on all reporting and safety checks, ensuring accuracy at all times
  • Ensure all assets are maintained and used correctly
  • High awareness of site safety and duty of care for your team, staff and site visitors
  • Finally have a ‘hands on’ with a 'can do' attitude
  • Have a commitment to ongoing job security

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of Logistics and Transport including the supply chain, inventory and distribution
  • Physically fit with the ability to safely lift loads and manually handle goods
  • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • Knowledge of the wider Cairns Region
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a continuous improvement culture through collaboration with team members and stakeholders
  • Team player, customer focused, attention to detail, safety focused, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Medium Rigid Licence (MR) Essential (HR preferred)
  • Forklift Licence (LF) Essential
