We are seeking an experienced and passionate Full-Time Nurseryperson to join our team.

Task & Responsibilities
  • Planting, fertilizing, weeding, pruning, repotting, watering, and mulching flowers using hand and gardening tools.
  • Inspecting flowers for quality and health, identifying signs of disease or pests, and ensuring proper care using appropriate treatments.
  • Managing the daily functions of the nursery area, including stock ordering (soil, fertilizers, pesticides).
  • Monitoring watering schedules, soil conditions, plant positioning, and responding to weather impacts to maintain optimum growing conditions.
  • Performing propagation techniques such as grafting, budding, and cutting to ensure continuous plant growth.
  • Sorting, packaging, and labeling flowers for distribution to wholesale and retail customers.
  • Overseeing storage, grading, and dispatch operations, ensuring that flowers meet quality standards for transportation to markets.
  • Applying knowledge of fertilizers, mulches, weed barriers, compost/soil amendments, and pesticides.
  • Using gardening tools to trim and prune trees, shrubs, and plants.
  • Potting and transplanting as needed.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the garden center and nursery.
  • Keeping detailed records of plant care, including size, watering, feeding, and products used.
  • Performing additional duties as requested by the General Manager.
Qualification & Experience
  • Certificate III in Horticulture, Nursery Operations OR Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a Nurseryperson is essential.
  • Hands-on experience in a commercial nursery, flower farm, or horticultural setting and experience within a flower farm is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to maintain the health and quality of flowers and plants.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture practices, plant care, propagation techniques, and nursery operations.

Wimmera Wildflowers Pty Ltd is a family-owned business established in 1989, located on the northern side of the Grampians Mountain Range in Laharum, Victoria. Our farm produces premium wildflowers and foliage, frequently featured in bouquets at supermarkets, florists, and special event arrangements across Australia. We supply wholesale customers nationwide and transport our products to the Melbourne Flower Market and directly to clients in Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane.
