This is a 12 Month contract opportunity

As our highly valued Senior Manager Business Controls, you will play a key role in supporting the business manage risk, providing input into the development of frameworks, policies, supporting standards, processes and procedures by collaborating and partnering with stakeholders, advancing understanding of our risk, obligation and control environment.

You will monitor the effectiveness of controls, compliance with obligations and risk appetite, as well as provide risk insights by identifying new / emerging risks and regulatory change, to support the consistent delivery of meaningful value to our customers.

Where risk events or compliance breaches occur, you will drive, track and monitor remediation and treatment of risks outside of appetite to fulfill our commitment to our customers and communities.

You will support the consistent implementation of change by ensuring that Great Southern Bank’s frameworks, policies, supporting standards, processes and procedures are applied, with a focus on embedding divisional senior leader accountability for risk management.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Coordinating risk and control identification
  • Supporting risk assessments and managing risk acceptances
  • Compiling the divisional risk profile
  • Working with stakeholders to set key risk indicators (KRIs), thresholds and triggers

Do things differently with us

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 10 years in financial services with a strong understanding of operational risk and compliance in the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated experience in a Risk and Business Controls function, in particular building and maintaining a robust control framework
  • Solid understanding of effective risk governance and reporting requirements for a financial institution
  • Demonstrated senior stakeholder management experience
  • Degree in management, business, finance or related discipline (essential)
  • Knowledge of relevant Finance industry standards, acts, codes and legislation (e.g., APRA, Consumer Credit Code, Credit Union Code of Practice, Privacy Act, Trade Practices Act, FSRA) (essential)
  • Post-Graduate (Finance, Risk Management) (desirable)
