Join our Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care Team as a Senior Occupational Therapist!
The Complex and Restorative (CARE) service is delivered in partnership with SA Ambulance Service (SAAS).
The CARE service, staffed by specialist geriatric, nursing and allied health staff, has been specifically designed to improve care for older patients by providing alternative treatment pathways to Emergency Departments (ED) where emergency care is not required.
About the role:
As the Senior Occupational Therapist, your role provides timely and effective urgent non-emergency care to patients with the goal of ‘home first’. Primarily providing expert assessment, triage, diagnostic or direct care for streams within the CARE service, located at Repat Health Precinct, across a 7 day service.
Duties for this role:
- Commitment to delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the SALHN Integrated Governance Framework and Consumer Engagement Framework and Plan,
- Collaboration with SAAS staff within the Command Centre to provide real time assessment and referral of alternative pathways
- Delivery of multidisciplinary acute and restorative treatment in the consumer’s home aiming to prevent unnecessary hospital, transfers as a member of the Eyes on Scene Outreach Team,
- Delivery of comprehensive geriatric assessment as a member of a multidisciplinary team focusing on complex and restorative care within the Care Centre.
About you:
- A degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia,
- Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for the provision of clinical Occupational Therapy services to a designated area as a member of an interdisciplinary team,
- Demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and intervention of clients with a variety of disorders and disabilities including management of complex cases, particularly those with cognitive impairment or diagnosis of dementia,
- Innovative and entrepreneurial approach to the delivery of services.
