About the role

The Community Engagement Officer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of True’s National Sexual and Reproductive Health ‘Health in my Language’ program, which aims to provide bilingual health education sessions for women from multicultural backgrounds in Queensland. The officer will liaise with multicultural groups to create opportunities for health education sessions in preferred languages, contribute to the development of educational resources, and assist in the preparation of reports and data collection on engagement activities.

The role involves promoting the program through publicity in community languages, representing True on relevant committees, and offering advisory services to other organisations. Additionally, the officer will manage projects aimed at improving health outcomes, collaborate on the development of materials for Education and Community Services, and work closely with communication teams to develop and review program resources.

The position will also require the officer to support community engagement partnerships, influence program design by researching the needs of the target audience, monitor and evaluate stakeholder engagement, and assist with various promotional and business activities to enhance the visibility and impact of True’s services.

Selection Criteria

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in community engagement. Fluency in English and either: Kurdish Kurmanji, Arabic, or a Pasifika language. Other languages may be accepted upon negotiation. Certificate and/or relevant qualification in the area of community services or community development. Commitment to, and understanding of, immigrant and refugee women’s health from a feminist perspective.Demonstrated experience communicating and liaising with a wide range of organisations and individuals of varying backgrounds.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Willingness to travel interstate and to rural regions.
