Electoral Commission SA is expanding the team as we prepare to plan and deliver one of South Australia’s largest logistical events, the 2026 State election.

In 2026, the Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) will employ a temporary election workforce of around 7,000 to assist in delivering the state election, and approximately 1,500 to deliver the local council elections.
The Senior HR Project Officer will lead election workforce recruitment with a focus on key recruitment, attraction, retention and deployment strategies and also support the planning and execution of broader workforce activities for the 2026 state and local council elections.
Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, key responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with the Workforce team to develop and deliver effective recruitment strategies that support workforce planning roadmaps for the 2026 state and local council elections.
- Leading the end-to-end recruitment processes, including participating on selection panels, and ensuring recruitment, selection and onboarding processes are completed efficiently and are compliant with legislation, policies and procedures.
- Developing job and person specifications and duty statements for project workforce requirements, including defining duties, skill and capability requirements and classification levels.
- Supporting the work of the broader Human Resources/Workforce function by undertaking other human resources related projects as required, including payroll, work health and safety and performance management.
Applications are encouraged from individuals with significant experience coordinating and facilitating end to end recruitment processes, developing and implementing targeted recruitment strategies, along with a comprehensive knowledge of HR employment conditions and legislation within the SA public sector.
Highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills, excellent planning and organisational skills, and experience in undertaking HR-related tasks and project-based activities is essential to this role.
Special Conditions
- This role is offered on a temporary term basis up to 18 December 2026.
- In order not to compromise the strict neutrality of the Commission, no person who is active in political affairs or intends to carry on this activity may be an employee.
- Employment is dependent upon a criminal history check that the Commission finds satisfactory.
- Extensive out of normal working hours duty may be required during the period of an election.
- Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Remuneration
ASO6 - $98,478 to $104,165 per annum
