About the role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to patient care by providing Occupational Therapy tasks delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of an Occupational Therapist. The role works collaboratively with patients and multidisciplinary teams across the several units within the High Security Inpatient Service, Extended Treatment and Forensic Unit and Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit.
The purpose of this role is to perform allocated clinical activities for which you have been trained and assessed as competent under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist. You will develop and build clinical competency through participation in workplace training, education, and feedback processes while engaged in formal Occupational Therapy Studies tertiary studies.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to apply knowledge in Occupational Therapy, the health care system, computer literacy, medical terminology, general medical conditions, and basic anatomy.
- Understanding of own scope of practice.
- Ability to acquire the skills to provide a defined range of assessments and treatments under supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist and undertake operational and administrative duties relevant to the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with consumers and the multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to use initiative and assume responsibility for the assigned workload, including the use of effective and efficient planning and organisational skills.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
