We are currently seeking an experienced Chef to join our team in a full time role working 38 hours a week.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Design and execute seasonal/specialty menus aligned with Karoo & Co's culinary vision.
- Manage food/labour cost estimation, inventory control, and supply ordering to meet budget targets.
- Oversee dish quality at all stages (prep, cooking, plating) to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and adherence to standards.
- Collaborate with Managers, kitchen/waiting staff, and suppliers to resolve operational challenges and enhance service efficiency.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff to improve skills, compliance, and workflow productivity.
- Enforce strict NSW health regulations (hygiene, equipment safety, workstation organization).
- Minimize waste through effective food preservation (freezing, storing) and ingredient management.
- Execute additional tasks as directed by management to support daily operations.
- Certification: Minimum Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (or equivalent).
- Experience: 2+ years as a Chef/Junior Chef in fine dining or high-quality establishments.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in menu execution, food safety protocols, and kitchen operations.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, adaptability, and leadership in fast-paced environments.
- Creativity: Ability to balance innovation with precision in dish preparation.
