We are currently seeking a Agricultural & Livestock technician with cattle experience to join our livestock team.
Primary duties of role will include:
• Delivery of feed to animals using modern machinery, ensuring correct feed allocated to animals to create desired finishing results.
• Assist with Induction protocol of all animals into feedlot
• Monitoring of animal health taking notice of condition of animals and feeding. Informing Feed Mill Manager if you feel the animals require further monitoring.
• Ensuring adequate and correct rations are supplied to animals
• Ensure adequate and quality water are supplied for Animals
• Ensure pen movements, pen riding, hospital treatments etc. Are recorded accurately
• Undertake pen riding activities when necessary
• Administering of medication to sick animals when necessary
• Assist with cleaning of water troughs, induction sheds, hospital treatment shed as required
• Assist with loading of cattle onto trucks
• Assistance to other company divisions, such as feeding, pen cleaning, maintenance or farming as required.
Specialist Skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated experience/willingness to learn cattle handling and management
• Competency in horse riding, as well as operation of other machinery and plant
• Be a team player
• General maintenance of machinery and feedlot infrastructure
• Identification of parasites & illness and devising methods of control and protection in animals.
• Administration of medication to sick animals, when necessary,in consultation with Veterinary staff.
• Completion of necessary paperwork regarding livestock movements.
• Assistance to other company divisions, such as pen cleaning, maintenance, and farming as required.
