About the Role
This role is integral to ensuring the successful grid integration of renewable energy assets. As a Connections Engineer, you will manage technical approvals, liaise with key stakeholders, and optimise grid connection strategies to enhance project viability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead grid connection processes, ensuring compliance with AEMO and NSP requirements
- Develop technical assessments, modelling, and performance studies for renewable energy assets
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies, consultants, and network service providers to expedite approvals
- Support generator performance standard submissions, negotiating compliance outcomes with stakeholders
- Optimise connection strategies to improve system reliability and network efficiency
- Provide technical expertise in power system studies, including load flow, fault level, and stability analysis
- Oversee compliance with grid codes, regulatory obligations, and technical performance standards
- Collaborate with internal teams to align grid connection strategies with project development goals
- Assess emerging grid challenges, such as system strength and network constraints, providing mitigation strategies
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for internal stakeholders and project financiers
- Monitor regulatory changes and industry developments impacting renewable energy grid integration
- Support due diligence processes for project acquisitions, assessing grid feasibility and risks
- Engage with industry forums, technical working groups, and policy discussions on future grid challenges
- Expertise in grid connection processes for renewable energy projects, including compliance with AEMO and NSP standards
- Strong technical knowledge of power system studies, generator performance standards, and grid codes
- Experience using power system analysis software (e.g., PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory)
- Ability to liaise effectively with regulatory bodies, network providers, and industry stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with experience in technical modelling and performance assessments
- Familiarity with emerging grid challenges, including system strength, inertia, and network constraints
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences
