Banyule City Council invites you to apply for the Community Connector Officer role within our Family & Communities Department. This exciting position is part of our Service Navigation and Information Program, designed to support individuals with diverse needs and foster a connected, inclusive community.

As a Community Connector, you will play a crucial role in our Community Connections unit. You will be the go-to person for providing information and support to navigate the service system for people with varying support needs, including:

  • Ageing/Aged Care
  • Disability/NDIS
  • Welfare Services (Emergency Relief/Housing and Homelessness)
  • Mental Health
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • First Nations
  • Social/Community Connections

What you’ll do:

  • Provide comprehensive information and navigation support across various service systems.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate programs to uplift community outcomes with a focus on inclusion, access, and equity.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including colleagues, organisations, and community members.
  • Address complex community issues using an intersectional approach.
  • Maintain up to date information about relevant services on the Service Navigation webpage

What you'll bring/what we are looking for

  • A relevant Degree or Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, health, community development, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of three years of experience in a similar role.
  • A proven track record in working with people with complex needs and an understanding of different abilities, cultures, and socio-economic circumstances.
  • In-depth understanding of service systems related to Ageing, Disability, Mental Health, Community, and Wellbeing services and confidence to work with a web-based platform to ensure correct and relevant information is available to residents.
  • Experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating community programs focused on inclusion, access, and equity.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Skilled in addressing complex community issues with an intersectional perspective

Pre-employment requirements

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police checks)
  • Working With Children’s Check
  • Functional Capacity Assessment
